PRINCE JOACHIM Visits the aged:
The visit of Prince Joachim of Denmark to the Danish inland fort Frederiksgave situated at Sesemi in the Ga-East Municipality of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana was a very ecstatic moment for Ms. Jeanette Gammelgaard. A Danish volunteer-nurse offering free healthcare service to aged persons on the ‘hope for the aged project’ being undertaken by Akrowa Aged-Life Foundation.
AA-LF is fusing the traditional Ghanaian social system and modern eldercare strategies with inspiration from Denmark.
‘I may never have met the Prince in person if I had not been in Ghana’ – was her happy words.
With her to meet Prince Joachim were other student-nurses from the Social-og Sundhedsskolen i Silkeborg in Denmark undertaking practical attachment in eldercare with the Akrowa Aged-Life Foundation in Ghana.
