A 4-member delegation of the Board of Directors of Akrowa led by the Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Mary Aboagye was in Denmark on a fourteen day working visit. During the stay, the delegation held consultation and discussions with the Social-and Health-care college in Silkeborg on teacher and student exchange program and practical attachment programs for the SOSU students on the Akrowa project in Ghana.
During the visit the delegation met the Mayor of Silkeborg Mrs. Hanne Baek Olsen and visited the Danish Parliament in Copenhagen and met Mr. Michael Aastrup Jensen. The visit also took them to the VIA University Nursing College, Hammel Neurorehabilitation & Research Centre, FOA Copenhagen, Regional Hospital in Skanderborg, MS Action Aid, Danish Red Cross, Ældre Sagen, Jydsk Boerneforsorg/Fredehjem Ellengaard, Diaconal Folk High School, Idætshøjskolen in Aarhus.
On these visit discussions were held for training, and crowned it with special weekend treats with Anja Bjerring Kristiansen & Else Jøker Pihl in their home in Virklund, Vice-Principal Karen Brix Roed & family and Mrs. Else NielsHenrik-Moeller & family at their homes in Randers and Bente Strager Director of social and health-care college in Silkeborg and her family. The delegation also met the AA-LF Danish Board.

AA-LF continues to provide opportunities for students from SOSU Silkeborg to undertake practical attachment in eldercare in Ghana. Lene Vib Nielsen has just arrived in Denmark after being on the AA-LF projects for one. Currently two more students are in Ghana for the internship.

AA-LF offers free eye-screening

AA-LF offers free eye-screening and lenses to 300 aged persons in the Ga-East municipality. AA-LF was partnered by the Accra Premier Lion’s Club ans Alpha Medical Centre-

 

This is the first of the two planned for 2010.
